WHAT IS
CEREMONIAL TATU?
Ceremonial Tatu is an ancient practice deeply rooted in cultural rituals and rites of passage spanning centuries. Sacred Tattoos, embedded with profound meanings, offer protection, express transformations, and even enchantments for the recipient. Within the tapestry of ceremonial tatu rituals, markings are meticulously woven to honor individual life narratives, signify spiritual rebirth, and embody transcendence.
It is a beautiful means of receiving permanent markings, embodying a holistic approach to human experience and the evolution of one's future self. This space is designed for shedding the old and embracing the new, providing a unique and tailored experience that aligns with your internal world. Through a series of carefully orchestrated ceremonies, Ceremonial Tatu becomes the transformative framework that awakens and supports what you value most in the journey of life
Tattooing, an ancient practice deeply rooted in diverse cultures worldwide for millennia, holds a rich history.
In the Philippines, tattooing has ancient origins, once so prevalent that upon the Spanish arrival, the Visayans were dubbed los pintados, meaning "the painted ones."
These tattooing traditions varied from elaborate ceremonial and ritualistic expressions to more personal and decorative forms. Often, tattoos symbolized personal accomplishments, a theme that endures in contemporary tattooing.
Having been born in the Philippines and spending my formative 12 years there, I am deeply honored to perpetuate these traditions. It feels like a meaningful way to preserve the practices of my ancestors.
Each morning, I engage in sacred daily rituals and habits, an integral part of my life. I aspire to integrate this reverence into my work, hoping it resonates with those who bear these meaningful markings
The term "tatu" denotes the act of creating skin patterns through pricking and colouring.
ABOUT ME
I've always felt a deep connection to art, flourishing in the realm of creativity throughout my school years. Growing up in the Philippines and finding myself in Australia at the tender age of 12, the fusion of both cultures ignited a deep curiosity about life and my spiritual purpose. A pivotal spiritual awakening occurred when I adorned my body with my first tattoo, a sacred homage to my auntie, my guiding light. Her departure at my 16th year left me burdened with unexpressed gratitude, a weight I carried until the completion of that sacred ink. It was then, through my own spiritual growth, that I discovered the therapeutic essence of tattooing. This revelation sparked a deep spiritual love, birthing dreams of becoming a vessel for spiritual expression as a tattoo artist. While the journey of life led me to a prolonged stint in the corporate world, navigating the corridors of a bank, my passion for the spiritual arts, whether channeled through drawing, dancing, or music, remained a guiding light. My turning point arrived when, at the age of 27, I was invited to begin an apprenticeship in the art of tattooing. From that crossroad, I never looked back. For me, every stroke, every challenge, and every connection in the sacred realm of tattoo art holds a spiritual resonance that transcends the physical. This spiritual journey unfolded into a life changing healing experience, and now, with a heart brimming with readiness, I stand poised to offer the gift of spiritual transformation. If you grant me the honor, I am prepared to hold space, and embark on this transformative journey with you. xx Jess
